Old: Marathon (original)

Classic: Marathon 2 Durandall, Marathon Infinity
These were the first FPS games I ever played and are very addictive. Since around the mid 90's I still am not "clean" when it comes to these wonderful games.

Timeless: StarCraft Broodwar, Carmageddon (original)
It is hard to beat these two in their areas, I am not really sure what more can be said about them though aside from "Try them on a LAN with good friends sometime.".

Timeless: Freespace 2
The last great space shooter. I shed a tear whenever I think about what COULD have been in this genre.

Then I take it you have heard of Freespace 2 Open Source Project and the multiple games being made that are based on it?

Anyone remember leisure suit larry and the land of the lounge lizards. I was young enough that even the sight of those few RGB pixels, roughly hewn into the vague shape of a woman's cleavage was enough to get me very excited.

I remember this scene well, although I'm sure the color and resolution was much worse.
