Zen3 and 3+ might come to AM5

IIRC, MLID mentioned this a few months ago about the possibility of DDR5 version of Zen3 and Zen3+ showing up on AM5. So don't bet on a DDR4 version of AM5.
correct. AM5 is DDR5 only and the article is about Zen3 / 3+ coming to AM5, which makes us wonder if Z3/3+ already supported DDR5 or that DDR4 was an option for AM5 but they didn't want to do it.

I am sure the memory controller is compatible with ddr4, but they didn't want to hamper performance for the sake of cheaper memory, makes me think of the introduction of RAMBUS with the Intel i850 chipset and the ensuing backlash. Remember that the IMC in intel from gen 7-9 still supported ddr3 and there were Chinese H310 mobos with ddr3, not to mention the Asus&Gigabyte 100 series with ddr3.

true...the X1 Carbon was using LPDDR3 until gen 8... which was Intel's 10th gen Core CPU.
