It's the media playing the race card to cause a controversy. Maybe it had a racist intent, maybe not but one way or another: so what? There MAY have been ONE bigot among the 13,000 viewing the came and that's supposed to mean...what?

To be honest I think it's racist of the commentators to make an allegation that it was a racist act. By saying that racist and assuming its a racist thing is just like calling the guy a monkey.

Keep in mind the context -- it's America, racism is alive, well, and occasionally good for getting elected. The depiction of a black man or woman as a primitive ape or monkey is sadly common. See porch monkey, or various depictions of Obama. And it's not an issue of social class; it's still present in society as high as you'd care to look.
If you want to over-simplify, blame Disney for perpetuating an image established by books such as The Negro, a Menace to American Civilization. 1967's The Jungle Book switched from the standard depiction of black characters as crows (Dumbo actually included a character named Jim Crow) to apes with Louie, a gibberish-spouting chimpanzee.
A 2008 published study by Penn State demonstrated this imagery had been transmitted to the current generation, even to those who claimed to carry no prejudice.

I was referring to the interpretation of the incident -- without knowing the perpetrator one cannot speak to his or her intentions. Though I imagine if asked the denial would be the same as those offered by the GOP official who distributed an e-mail of Obama as a baby with chimpanzee parents: nothing racial intended by saying this picture explains his lack of a birth certificate.

Hell Id take it more as a homophobic act than a racist act as they were calling him a FRUIT not a monkey (OR more likely just trying to get him to slip...ala the old slipping on a peel gag).
