i apologize for not elaborating on my info request.
we had a pet pass away several days ago. we have 28.something GB of pictures and small videos of him. it is (imho) absolutely beyond critical that we save these. i looked for the longest lasting media and came up with M-Disc. it will be the...

thx for any info

i went for the corsair 1000 att unit/ got it for $227 (price match) at ncix.
it will be my first non enermax or pc power and cooling power supply.
johnny guru gave it a 9.6, so hopefully it will work out.
SS Wilson: this "civy" thing is hard to get used to...

hello all: as usual i find this is the onl place i can get a decent opinion.
this time its on power supplies.
i have narrowed it to
1.) the enermax platimax 1000 watt or
2.) corsair professional series HX1000I 1000 watt ps.
does anyone have experience with these?
normally i would have...
one small example
4tb WD reds--- $219.99 with a "massive" $8.99 off their normal price. that and no price matching due to this "special pricing"
meanwhile ---$199 at new egg with plenty of equally lower prices elsewhere.
they seem to be using the "no matches" policy far more than they used to...
the pin was .......
the pin was pulled for me...medical release. i am on "retirement" leave at this time, until the 11th of feb, that would give me just over 34 years.
and as for hard drives. i didnt think i could kill a WD Red that was only a couple of months old, but, there it is. and it was...
i have read many opinions on hard drive replacements but remember that here are the only ones i can trust and take seriously.
first my latest story: i have 2 of those western digital :my cloud: storage devices. one is 3tb and has never given off so much as a peep and is working fine. last...
i feel like a frigging dimwit.
turns out it was a loose data cable. dont quite understand the ability to transfer "from" and the "transfers "to" being slow (with cable loose). reseated and all is well.
thx for the help. it did send me in the right direction.

i have a WD green drive giving odd behaviour.
trying to transfer a 1.05 gb file to it and it comes to a near stop about half way through.
this same files will transfer to all other drives without fail.
s.m.a.r.t. test are all good
transferring from this drive to the other goes about 100mb per...
ever the glutton for punishment, i got another one from costco.
must have been a duff unit because this one works perfectly. i denied permission for it to install some driver that i never heard of. i could see no need for it as all i was after was external storage and not back up. i also...
it is all moot for now.
i had transferred several hundred gigs, then the drive froze up. for whatever reason it was making strange sounds like soft beeps.
it couldnt be accessed for love or money. windows explorer could see it but wasnt reporting the data i had transferred fully. it reported...
