I was given a N4100 today.
It has 3 drives in it, So i set it up as Raid5.

Let me know if this is a good idea of bad.

It will be used for home file sharing and storage only.

Im sure its able to do alot more, I just dont know enough about NAS boxes to set it up proper.

If you want the redundancy, then raid 5 is fine but you will certainly pay the price in terms of speed (but it looks like you may not even need it). I'm not quite sure what the 4100 is capable of but it may be able to run some network services for you as well (web server, ftp, etc.).

seems fine. write a file to it and see how many MB/s you get.
