Increasing HDD capacity/density is great, but doing so while still on a speed limited mechanical drive sure a hell makes for some brutally long prep. I'm doing a pre-clear on a 22TB drive. Pre-clear is a 3 part process read/write/read and I'm currently @ 73% of the first confirmation read after... -

I don't believe I'm normally connected via BT. IIRC the connection is over wifi using the MS connect app on my phone. -

I've never had any issues with it, but then again, I only use it to view/send/reply to SMS, getting photos off of my phone, and relatively easy hotspot sharing when I don't have access to wifi. Anything else seems to require that I "authorize" physically access on my phone each time and I've got... -
Whats your latest purchase?
Got the drive in and already shucked. No real way to tell what it is, but unraid's identity tab reports it as a 7200RPM CMR/HAMR Barracuda. Currently on the initial read portion of the pre-clear and it's reporting 35c with active cooling. (In an open USB caddy). Basic reported speeds are/were... -

Completed DIY Networked Attached Storage
Did not work as expected. I was hoping to scatter the files over the remaining drives, but it put 90% of them onto the first drive it hit and brought it over 85% full. I guess there's a setting to adjust min/max file totals that I should have looked at.- sswilson

Completed DIY Networked Attached Storage
This is what I've been using and it seems to work as advertised. Ends up taking 3 nights to complete parity with a 22TB parity disk. Currently prepping to replace one of my 10TB drives with a 22TB one, and I know it's not necessary (I could just pop the old one out and let the system run parity...- sswilson

I just noticed the amazon.ca kb is translucent as opposed to straight black. I'm personally not a fan, but that's up to you. (The .ca website kbs are black, but will ship from china warehouse). edit: The .ca site is also coming up with a $15 off for signing up overlay if that helps with pricing.- sswilson

Best paint to use on metal cases?
That's always been my understanding. For DIY an automotive paint is probably going to be best. -

If you like light switches then the reds on the amazon version might be right up your alley. Kalihs are a brand of MX compatible switches, just on the lower end of the spectrum. MX switches come in both 3 or 5 pin versions and a keyboard which supports 5 pin also supports 3 pin. (The extra pins...- sswilson
