Got some more toys in today ... not for this project (I wish I had ordered it before now though), but rest assured, you'll see it used in a future project of mine.
A bunch of various samples of different materials to see what I might like for future builds.
And a strip heater to make...
Next up to build, the dual 6-pin PCIe power cables for the video card (they are so short and easy, I'll do full cables like the 8-pin CPU) as well as the 24-pin motherboard cable (which I will do as an extension because the Seasonic PSU isn't a "pin to pin" connector).
I'm thinking something...
Best way to get custom power wires to have the sleeve color to "pop" is to have the wires under it to be as close to matching as possible.
The orange, black, and grey sleeve will go nicely with the wire color under it.
Time to start measuring and cutting wires so they are all the...
I love it. It's small and fills the space up nicely. I think it is the middle size one (140mm). They have a smaller 100mm that is pretty standard. You can also get additional tubes after the fact and make it 250mm or 400mm.
The insert in the middle, aside from being an EK logo, actually serves...
Finally done the custom power cable for this build. Now instead of having 3 standard cables running from the PSU to various places in the "dog house", ONE cable does it. Of course I had to make it line no other cable does, with a mix of SATA power and 4-pin Molex power ... and in the right...
Very true. Most people wouldn't have caught that. :punk:
I couldn't find an actual picture of him that would have been fitting, or someone with the weapon he actually used in WWII.
A more fitting image would be like ...
Well, I didn't get the main cable done, and it ain't much to look at now, but since I have to get up early to meet 52 World War II veterans from Maine at the airport and give a motorcycle escort down to the WWII monument (and several other monuments) in DC at 6am, I gotta make it an early night...
Thanks.
As expected, the extension didn't take long.
Now to install it and get the 140mm fan spinning (but I already tested the cable and fan separately). Then start on the "one off" cable for power to the "dog house". Maybe I'll be able to get that done before the wife thinks of...
A very subtle change. Instead of using the 4-pin Aquabus cables to control things, I'm going to just use USB2.0 to talk to all the devices. This will allow for the same monitoring and control of the devices, but unlike using Aquabus, it will allow me to update the firmware of those devices...
That's very true, LCARS wasn't a thing until ST:TNG. Also, that warp core was from ST:TNG, not ST:TOS, so they sort of do belong together. But as a tribute to Spock/Leonard Nimoy, a little creative license can be taken.
The original NCC-1701 panels were all switches and such. Now the NCC-1701-A...
While the engineering LCARS might look cool to go with the core image, on the back side of the lower one with the smaller image of the Enterprise, you could go with this one, which is for a Science station, which would have been Spock/LN's station. Might be a more fitting image for a tribute build.
I Google up some old TOS ones: https://www.google.com/search?q=LCARS+the+original+series
This one may do nicely, especially given the Core you are displaying.
Or this, with a little modification ...
I love the look of the "core". That looks awesome.
Do you have anyone there who is an electronics geek? What would totally send that over the top is to hook up like 6 or 8 individual LEDs on the inside and have each LED on something like a 555 timer chip so that they flash in sequence. If I...
Yeah, hard tubing will be done, that is a given. I just want to clean things up a bit so the pathways will be clear. Also, I have an issue with the flow sensor making a 'ticking' noise, but one of the reps at Aquacomputer told me how to dissemble it and possibly fix it. I'll try that, but if it...
Last update before bed.
I managed to put the 3rd RGB LED strip in (top back) and that now allows me to totally flood the upper part of the case with light now. I think most of the time I'll keep the upper part white (at 50% brightness) and the lower part orange at 75% brightness (maybe less...
Minor update (weather is just too nice and the motorcycle is calling), and I know it doesn't look like much of an improvement, but I did manage to permanently mount the upper and lower LED strips that go on the "front" of the case. I'll mount 2 more (one upper, one lower) on the "back" side...

I get the same issue in the game Rift using an EVGA GTX 980 SC (which isn't OC'd at all) running Windows 10. When I eject my SSD and put in my Windows 7 SSD, and run the same game, same card, same driver, but different OS, I have no issues what so ever.
So I suspect Windows 10 immaturity.
