Your math is way off, in your example 7x duds sold at $400 = $350 down, not $1700... -

This - I run into issue of wax build up every few years. Sometimes it takes couple days of drowning my ears in peroxide to clear them up, but it does work. -

Yes, simply yes, duds would get sold off at a decent discount to those who can't care about overclocking much. Taking 8700K as an example, the duds wouldn't be discounted below an 8700 nonK retail, so there a solid floor to pricing. Additionally - nonK's can't make use of all core turbo boost... -
