Core i7 or AMD Phenom 2 Build

If price really isn't an issue, just get the i7. But to be honest, the AMD build will give you noticeably the same performance, you just don't get the extra e-peen you would with an i7 ;)

Thinking about investing in a laptop

A friend of mine recently got this: NCIX.com - Buy ASUS N81VP-D1 Core 2 Duo T9600 4GB 320GB 14.1IN HD Radeon 4650 DVDRW Vista Premium Notebook - N81VP-D1 In Canada.. I know it's not a 17", but if you want portability with power, this is a great choice. It runs games like TF2 and L4D on...

    Which Fan Controller?

Have not tried any of the ones you listed, but I recently got a Sunbeam Rheobus, and it's great. I run 2 Yate Loons for intake on 1 channel, 1 Yate Loon for exhaust on another channel, a 200mm Big Boy on a third, and my PSU fan on the 4th. (Did a little fan mod to reduce noise :thumb:) My only...

    Desk or Floor?

Used to be on my desk just so I could stare when I was bored... :shok: ..but once I got new speakers, I couldn't fit it on my desk. It's on the floor now and definitely collects more dust. Here's to hoping when the carpet gets replaced by hardwood, I won't have to vacuum it out so often.

    4850 Sapphire 512mb 101.99 Free Shipping!

Nice price but IMO the HDMI/VGA/DVI ports ruin the card. At least for me, running dual monitors with 2 dvi cables.

what do u think of my OC on C2D?

Not bad, but you could definitely push it further. Here is my C2D overclock which is stable. Still trying to get 4.0ghz stable, but I'm happy with it now. Temps idle around 22c and max out just shy of 60c. Good luck! :thumb:

Help my finalize my 1st build

If you're on a budget, why do you want the tri sli? You could just get 2x 275's and an i7 and new motherboard/ram.

Sunbeam Rheobus - 2 Fans on 1 Channel

I got my Rheobus and it came with a few cables. 2x molex to 3pin, 1x molex splitter, and 1x 2pin female to 3pin female. What exactly is the last cable for?

Do i need to upgrade my Monitor for gaming?

Using your old 720p (?) television won't look as good as a 24in monitor. You should just try it first, and if you are fine with it, then more power to you.

    Realtek and Windows 7

That sounds something like what my situation is. I use a WRT54GL with Tomato firmware for the QoS features, and ever since then, i've had to set up DNS on all devices connecting to the router.

    XFX Support Experiences

All I need to do is "accidentally" kill my 7900GS and I'll probably get a new card. But I don't think I could ever part with my trusty old card.

Hey guys, I have 3 builds, but I don't know what I should really get...

I hope you are still looking for a build. I had some spare time so I thought I would whip something up to compare with your 2nd build. Most parts are the same, but some I changed around that are better, but keeps you in the same price range. Less to be exact :D The power supply is optional to...

    Realtek and Windows 7

I figured out why audio wasn't working. Had it disabled in BIOS because I was using my sound card with XP so I thought it was unnecessary. You really think running the RTM release would cause conflicts? I might as well just go back to XP 64bit. It is the 64bit edition. I'll explore my...
