Had one of my clients email me about Microsoft calling them up.

some guy just phoned and said he was from windows and my computer was reported to have a whole bunch of things wrong and no protection. He actually had me at my computer doing stuff to show me how bad it was? Finally when it got to some type of desktop control thing I got notice something bad was going to happen and I hung up the phone call

I had a similar call a couple weeks ago. The woman said my Windows PC had spyware and malware, so I played along. Of course, she told me she was from Microsoft, and that I needed to turn on my computer right away. After telling her it was on, and that if she actually worked for Microsoft she'd have known that, she ended the call quite quickly.

All I wanted was some fun. :(
 
Yep, they are working BC right now. I know at least a half dozen people who have been called. Fortunately all of them figured it out, as I warned all my family and friends after I got a call a few months ago.
 
One thing that I read is that AMMYY.com is getting a bad rap, since it is a free/open source software, however scammers keep misusing it for illegal access.
 
I've been getting those calls at least once a day -- possibly more, but I don't pick up blocked numbers anymore. Did a couple of times, just to make fun of the person on the other end.
 
Those in the irc will remember me getting the same call a month or so ago, I baited her along........ I am sorry I cant find the Start orb.
It is right down on the bottom left sir.
I cant seam to find it......... Wait that is because I am using Ubuntu.

But wait your for MS right so how does this work?


She hung up and I have not had another call since.
 
This went across Ontario a few months back. Dad answered the call and messed around with the guy for a bit but didn't actually do anything. He wouldn't give any address to go to though, so I guess they're getting "better" now :whistle:
