Basically I need a program that will copy a few folders on my main drive to a storage drive daily, just so I have a backup that's new instead of doing it manually which gets to be a little annoying but yeah if you know of one let me know :) (Looking for something free)

Also it would be great if it checks files against each other to see if anything changed and if not skip it and just copy whatever files are different (bigger in size, last modified date etc)

Thanks.

I use Goodsync it as an option for scheduled sync or backup it come with GoodSync Explorer, a files and network shares explorer.

I know there are plenty of programs out there for backups. I’ve heard all of the above mentioned but never tried them. I back up with Praetorian Guard in the office. It is very easy to use, you pick up the folders you need backed up, set a schedule and then get email notification when the job is done.

Good free program

Cobian's site

Paid Acronis gets a +1, but I use it for the imaging vs the backup features.

Cobian is great for a free basic tool. I also agree on Acronis for imaging. Lately for backup I've been using CrashPlan. One really nice feature of the free home version is you can actually back stuff up to another location for free if you have CrashPlan installed there. (That's in addition to backing up to external drives, or whatever).
