Cougar 450K Keyboard & 450M Mouse Review Comment Thread

Nice review, I actually went online to see if I could find it on major online retailers but sadly couldn't find it. newegg does have Cogar products so I guess it's just a question of "when" will it be available.

Here I know, I saw the review on YouTube this morning and Amazon and Newegg (Canada) were the first 2 website I looked at, like I said, they have Cougar products but not the 450k (for now, I'm assuming they will have the 450K soon). I could buy it elsewhere but with the CAD that low it's not worth the hassle IMO, I looked at other reviews and for the price and compromise it looks like a good product!

The Cherry MX hybrid mechanical switches have three-colour backlighting and are completely sealed, which the company claims makes the keyboard waterproof. It stood up to that task in our testing, but Hardware Canucks still recommends against undersea computer usage.

Just to be clear for those reading the review - the switches on this board don't appear to be MX-compatible, let alone genuine Cherry MX.

MX-compatible would refer to switches that are not made by Cherry, but are virtually identical and can use the same keycaps. Examples would be Gateron, Kalih, and Greetech. An example would be Kalih's used in Razer products.

Cherry MX switches are the original, real deal. Examples of their use would be Filco, Leopold, and some Coolermaster products.

From what I can tell, Cougar's implementation here appears to be the "slider over rubber dome" variation some keyboards use. Similar to some ALPS look-alike switches that look very similar to the real deal.
