Scroll down for a summary if you think it's TLTR ...
So let me start by stating the obvious; this project is not about doing the "logical thing", if anyone wants a bigger case that includes a lower chamber, the logical thing would be to simply buy one with the size and the features you need!!!
With that out of the way, the whole project here is a "ridiculously tight budget" that started a few months back when (by pure luck) I started getting free tech stuff (free case, free C2Q, free DDR2, free SSD, free HHD, etc...). So I thought I had enough tools and materials to make something out of an old case without spending any money!
The case I'm working with is an old HP DC7600 ;
I already modified the front and also the side panel to remove the HP logo (I'll add some pictures when it's completely finished), my next step is to add a bottom chamber in the form of a pedestal that would be attached permanently. I already have plans to use an old Dell case I have and mod the hell out of it.
Before I start on the lower chamber, I tried to see if ANYONE had done that before (adding a lower chamber) and I can't seem to find anything, so if you guys have any ideas, let me know because this seems uncharted territory!
I will add some pictures as soon as I have time to do so!
TLTR summary ;
Will add a lower chamber in the form of a permanently attached home made pedestal to a custom case, was looking for inputs and suggestions since this seems uncharted territory! BTW I am well aware buying a case with a lower chamber (even a used one) would be the most logical thing to do to save time and money, this isn't about that!
P.S. if anyone is interested, the lower chamber will be there to hold the custom watercooling loop I'm also building for that project!
