Go Canada !

I have to say, I am enjoying the hockey much more this year than I did 4 years ago. At the Vancouver Olympics, the men's team practically walked all over their opponents (save for the US). That didn't make for very interesting games.

At least this year it's fun to watch, even if they stand a chance of losing.

Anyone know who they face in the semi final?
 
They face the USA. Somehow.

The way I saw it, the winner of USA / Czech Republic should have gone on to face Finland. It looks like the tournament was set up in a way to guarantee a Canada / Russia final.

I thought it was all based on points and then goals for/against during the qualifying rounds.

Based on that, Sweden would have qualified first, USA second, Canada third (due to their OT win vs Finland) and Finland fourth (of the four teams who qualified for the semi's)

From there it's a basic 1v4, 2v3 format for the semi's.

I could be wrong though :)
 
Don't want to diminish the accomplishment but I find Canada's women hockey team to be one of the "dirtiest" I've ever seen. Throughout the tournament the amount of stick work, inference and underhanded moves they pull on the opponent has disgusted me. Looks like they're paying for it today with penalties.

/end rant.
 
Holy. Mother. Of. God. What a tumultuous ending. That ref at the blue line almost made me want to tear my hair out, that was SO CLOSE to ending everything.
