GPS trackers

These things will be attached to their clip boards to keep track of times on cleaning rooms etc. She had some issues with staff last year reporting cleans that weren't being done and customers were obviously pissed off.

This is not what I would call good company ethics and could cause super unhappy employees.

Better option would to have a supervisor doing spot checks and doing follow ups.

yes tell mom get out of the chair an do follow ups if employee did a good job award / praise them

also beware of con artist who say room was a mess for a cheaper stay

the follow up will protect the good worker and your mom's health

GPS trackers would be less reliable in some kinda building, unless we're talking a resort with individual cabins/villas might be hard to tell exactly what room they're in. GPS signal can be ~3m accuracy outside with a clear view. But could be ~25m inside a concrete highrise.

Ok my mom is the furthest thing from lazy at 65 she works harder than most 20-30 year olds but that said I will pass on the comments as I don't fully agree with the gps tracking either. She looks after 80 separate units and suites all over the mountain. Anyway thanks for the input everyone :-)
Cheers!

Will you be tracking personal cars or company cars? If it's company cars, I don't think the employees can complain much about it. The only AVL products that I know of is pretty expensive, such as Sierra Wireless, Calamp (bad interface, bad programming), and some others that are used on work trucks. A quick search on Amazon show there are some that are plugged into OBD2 part but it still require a SIM card for reporting back. May be look into an app that downloads via Bluetooth or WiFi when the company cars are back within range of the office.
