H80i v2 1x fan OR other AIO w/ 2x fans

I would think a single fan + thicker rad would offer more cooling capacity than a thin rad + dual fans. Push-pull configs don't really do much for cooling performance, at least not in recent reviews I've seen.

This is the case in question though? I guess it's technically made to fit a 120mm AIO beside the motherboard. Wouldn't really make sense to leave that space all empty.

In term of the AIO itself, you'll have more heat capacity with the thicker rad , which basically means it will take a bit longer to reach the temp that the rest of the setup can dissipate. So if you have it, then use it for sure.

The thicker ones do benifit from the increased airflow because of the increased surface area, but I'd still use it even in a single fan config.

@JD yep that's the one, albeit nekkid. It's definitely made for an AIO, without a doubt.

@Soultribunal : it's not purchased yet (gonna wait till Al the final black Friday sales are up after midnight tonight), but it's the one I've been planning to get.

So I'm thinking my final decision will be to stick with the h80, single push fan underneath the rad, pushing hot air into the case. Then use a thin 92 or 92 plus a duct/baffle to shove the air towards the back of the case.

Maybe I'll mod the case itself for a fan over the mobo as well, but it is *seriously* heavy duty thick steel. Each one of those bent panels that wraps around each of the three chambers weights 4-5lbs I'd say, maybe more. Solid construction.

Oh ya, did anyone check out the baffle/duct link i posted? I was serious when i said I'd commission someone to 3D print something like it for me, cause i think it really would help the airflow head the right way. Without it is probably have to run the 92 fan much faster and louder than I'd like, to ensure that cold air is pushing the hot out the back.

Odd question, how much clearance do you have between the Fan mount and AIO? (I see the 4 posts, I'm not 100% familiar with the case) for a fan (120 or 92?).
If you can wedge a Fan in there, make it Intake, then mount the fan on the AIO as push instead of pull and that should solve the airflow.

I might even have some nice thin 120mm ones I can send you that I don't use. I'll have to take a look. I have...so many fans still.

The fan Mount? You mean for the 92 or the AIO? The 92 isn't actually listed as possible for the board, but pulling off the front cover of the mobo chamber, i found four holes that would work for a 92, so long as it's 15mm or thinner (my reg 25mm thick 92s prevented the front piece from fitting back into place).

As for the airflow, i think we both said the same thing, but in different ways? Intake air from the bottom 120mm, push through the H80's thick rad, then let the 92 (with or without a duct/baffle/shroud whatever you call it) push all that air towards the back of the case, as well as whatever additional fresh air or can pull in.
 
Over the motherboard IO area, looks like maybe you could put in some 40mm fans too?

I'm still thinking it would be more efficient for you to exhaust the AIO out the "bottom" of the case like the above picture seems to show. It's easier to bring in cool air to that chamber than it will be to exhaust 65W+ of heat from the CPU/AIO.

That's another idea that would work too methinks. Exhaust pull-only h80, after the rad, and have 92mm help pull air towards it. My only concern with this way is shooting heat downward to the desk, and it isn't a huge gap between case and desk.

I guess i could always try both ways to see what gives the better temps.
