Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone has set one of these up before and could give me any tips. Me and my room mates thought we could save on beer costs if we set one of these up (about $0.75/bottle for good beer as opposed to $1.20 for crap). Now of course start up costs are a tad expensive (about $200 for the most basic set-up where you don't have to drill a hole in your fridge) but considering between the 4 of us we will probably consume around 1 beer a day each for the next year we will probably save about $200 after we buy cleaning kits and CO2 etc.

Now what I was wondering if there was a better way to do it, so far I found the full kits to be the cheapest but does anyone know of a store where I could find the couplings, gauges, CO2 tanks, beer/gas lines and a faucet in canada?

Edit: Also forgot to mention I don't know if I need ball or pin lock kit yet so somewhere with both would be good.

It's not a direct answer (as I don't know), but I've spent time on homebrewtalk.com and found them to be fairly knowledgable. You may find more help there...

Is this not enough?
Beer Pump Keg Tap | eBay
A manual pump doesn't have as much of a cool factor, but it would be much simpler and cheaper on every level. Then again, I know nothing on that topic.

hand pumps don't re-pressurize your keg so it goes flat if you don't drink it all in one night. They are for parties where you plan on drinking the keg dry in one night.

Thanks vulcan I will check that one out.

You sir are a gentlemen and a scholar... Now to convince the roomies and a buddy to drive it up to thunder bay lol

It was going to cost around that much without the fridge.

That is a fair drive, but you could easily hit a half dozen breweries along the way
