Anyone else still running a touchpad?

I grabbed a 32gb one for my wife during the firesale, but she just upgraded to an ipad mini 2, so I took over the touchpad.

I wiped the whole thing, and installed cyanogenmod 11 running android kitkat v4.4.4 and CPU is OC'd from 1.2ghz to 1.5ghz (some people have them pushed much higher, but supposedly battery life takes a big hit above 1.7).

I am amazed that after this upgrade the tablet feels snappy and is running great. Other than being a bit bulky, this tablet is aging very well. It would still be a decent purchase for the price I paid.

I am running the exact same thing you are. Running KitKat 4.4.4 . I was debating getting a new tablet and ditching this one but i'm glad i made the change over. Battery life is still a bit short in my opinion. I have not over clocked my cpu at all. Aside from the battery drain it has been a huge improvement to the experience on the HP Touchpad.

The version of Cyanogen mod I installed defaults with the 1.5 ghz OC, but you can modify it higher or lower from withing the settings. Makes a bit of a difference.

When i get home im going to run cpuid on the Touchpad and figure out what im running at. Everything right now works fine for me. if the cpu clock is too high i might bring it down a bit to conserve on battery power. Other than that i have no regrets at all about switching over.

Me either. There are a couple versions of lollipop out for it now, but I will wait for a more refined version before I go to that. The version of Kitkat I have is perfectly functioning.

That is one of the reason I wait so long to change over. I keep reading the Cyanogenmods forums that certain feature were not enabled or not working properly. When KitKat came out they pretty much said all the hardware functions were fixed and working correctly. I haven't come across anything that isn't working right yet.

I haven't upgrade my Nexus 5 to Lollipop yet, still waiting for programs to be ported over from the KitKat code. When i feel comfortable that they have that all down and working just fine then i might switch over.

Most name brand dual core or better tablets are still able to play pretty much anything the Play Store can throw at them.

True, but I can say that our touchpad was starting to have issues in general use and was "feeling slow". After I updated to this recent andoid build it was a notable improvement. Not to mention bluetooth is working better than before.

I love mine, and for $99 there is no way I could consider getting any iPad. Especially with Apples forced grandfathering of devices it makes it difficult to understand, and space a non-issue due to that amazing SD card slot Apple refuses to provide you with because it cuts into their profit margins...:blarg:

I believe I'm running either 4.4.2 or 4.4.4. It feels very responsive. Notably it has only crashed once on me, and it may have been what I was trying to do to it at the time.

If you're having battery drain issues look into flashing the A6 firmware. I get -6ma drain on mine in standby, and it lasts probably about 14 days before needing a charge while on standby. With light usage (its just kind of a quick web browser when you're in the sitting room) I get about 10 or 12 days out of it.

Nice. I tried to get the $99 one, but they were sold out everywhere, so I had to get the "expensive" one.
