Hello everyone, happy Friday!

Please help me on what my best option would be.

I have a computer that likes to give me problems. I am ready to throw some money at it now, but I don't know if trying to replace each part until it is fixed is the smart decision.

I was thinking that I could get a new mobo, vid card, ram and processor, and then see if I still get problems. I wouldn't mind trying to use some of the old parts still, if that is wise.

I could always start again, but then I don't want to have a dead computer with good parts just sitting in the corner. That's not crazy is it?

So let's hear the feedback.... please!!

1.Start from scratch

2.Try and rebuild part for part my current computer runs smooth as silk

Thank you.

Happy Payday.

First off, what kind of problems are getting with your current computer? And second, can you give us the full specification of your PC? Those two questions will help us determine your solution. Thanks.

Hell yeah, more like happy overtime cheque. Had lots and lots of banked overtime.

Just endless crashes and blue screens. Never been able to determine the problem, even with the forums help.
I'll be playing a game or even just browsing and all of a sudden it'll blue screen.
From here sometimes it is a nightmare watching it try and restart without blue screening at anytime during boot and log on times.

Also, sometimes if I leave my computer, without any programs running nor having even opened anything since the boot...it will still crash when I come back, say from getting groceries or something.
I can tell because it's either doing log in repair or at my main log in screen.
Sometimes just as I sit down it'll BSOD on me. that's always fun.

Why not take it to a good computer shop (not Staples/BestBuy) for troubleshooting ?

You're about due for an upgrade my friend. Rather than spending money on MAYBE fixing you're rig, you might as well build a new one. It's something you would have to do at some point in the near future no matter. The future is now! Go for it.

Thank you.

Honestly, I would go new on the core of the system no matter what.
The parts you had were great for their time, but that time is now over I think. You could get yourself a solid core set of components that will be much faster than what you have now.

That is what I would do.

PS - I personally think its the MB myself. I had a GB board like that once, and it took 2 RMA's to get a working one.

Thanks for all of the feedback, everyone.

I will be switching to Intel for this next build, most likely going to utilize my Noctua NH-D14 with the rig,
unless I decide to start something I've never done before and research liquid cooling.

Thanks guys! It'll be a fun journey from here!

Happy Sunday

Thanks Silk, when I get the time to research I will be checking that out for sure!

I have a little update I would like to share.

After I posted this, my computer decided to not run longer than 5 mins. I was trying to start it up, and it would keep blue screening on me. I'm talking 5+ in a row....
After I was certain it wasn't going to start, I left it off for a few days.

Keep in mind, I am dual screening with my setup... I was about to start playing ps3 today after work, when I noticed my main 24" ACER monitor making a funny glitchy sound, followed by going dark..
The monitor beeped/groaned and then the display shut off.

I turned off the ps3 and restarted it while cranking the volume up on the acer 24". I was then able to hear the ps3 running fine, but my monitor had power with no picture (note: it did not say no signal or anything) . The PS3 home screen popped up on the screen, the monitor made the sound and then went dark.

With that being said, my second monitor is an LG without an HDMI input, so I cant use my ps3 on it. However, I unplugged the Acer main display from my computer, and I have yet to blue screen using the LG monitor as a primary. I have never, ever had my rig set up with just this LG monitor (because it is smaller).

I am now wondering if I should turn off my computer and see if it boots and still has life, or risk leaving it on forever..to me, it's a fluke that it is working right now.

Can anyone help me out, I've got nothing to lose here, haha.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for any support or advice you can offer me.

Have a great week everyone.
