My thoughts:

1. Motherboard - asrock seem to be having some ups and down lately. Not sure on that board, but just do some research

2. Cooler - I would go for the ak620 if it fits your planned case for the extra thermal headroom

3. Storage - I would skip the 256gb storage. They are substantially slower than larger drives. I would get 2x1tb, or a single 2tb. What model are you planning to get?

4. PSU - For a relatively high end build, that is a more budget oriented power supply. Would you like recommendations?

Overall comment - are you building right now? If not, I believe AMD is releasing non-X and X3D cpus in Jan that would get you either higher performance or potentially better value.

I need to +1 Bond007 with a few extra details
1. I avoid Asrock as well
2. AK620 or Noctua replacement would be ideal. AM5 wants to run hot so you want to go as big as possible
3. 1tb + 500GB is minimum i'd go. 500GB for OS and garbage and 1TB for everything else (steam etc)
4. I avoid bronze PSUs and aim for gold+

thank you.

1. what's wrong with the asrock? i got a smoking deal on it which is way I purchased it.
2. I knew I should have just spent the few extra dolors on the ak620 but oh well. What if I went with an Artic Liquid freezer 2 240mm? I've never used an AIO so I'm a little skeptic
3. I'll try to sell the 256gb drive then and find a relatively cheap 500gb

If you are using the smaller drive as your OS and or Boot Drive, you want it to be a good fast model.

WD's SN Series, Kingstons Fury, ADATA's XPG, Micron's (Crucial) P5 , Sabernet's Rocket, PNY's XLR8 are all good options.
The small drives a lot of times tend to be RAM-less , thus slower, with smaller provisioning and shorter lifespans. If my OS is going on a Drive, I make sure its a GOOD one.

I can understand people being hesitant to ASROCK. They have had ups and downs as BOND mentioned in their quality and usability. Some are good, others have had known issues. ASUS is my preferred brand. More refined , good BIOS and great Utility control via their Armory Crate application.

I personally wouldn't panic on the AIO itself unless you're pushing some good Overclocks. For now your AK500 would be ideal IMO.

ASRock has just had its ups and down over the years like all others have said I avoid them too, I can't second everyone on making sure if you use a 256gb drive as your boot to make sure its a good one with dram cache, I personally stay away from QLC NAND for OS drives Soul has listed many good drives, I use 256gb os drives but I only use good name brand drives all the other can be used for other things IE fast USB storage

the Artic Liquid freezer 2 is a very good AIO if you don't care about cost or just use a good Air cool from Noctua like an NH-d15 or be quite

Asrock is hit and miss so you really need to read / watch reviews to figure out if it's good or not. If you're not planning to OC, then a decent air cooler would do. As for SSD, I would also stay away from QLC as the main OS drive and pick something like WD SN Black model. Sabent Rocket as a QLC model so read the specs carefully. Right now I'm doing 500GB OS + main apps and 1TB for Steam games.

thank you.

You already bought all these parts?

I noticed that too. Feedback after the fact is a bit of closing the barn door after the horses are gone :)

I'd say enjoy what you bought if it's all working! You can certainly get great input here though on configuration, set up, performance tweaks, etc. if necessary.

Yes, all items listed have already been purchased. I know that it's backwards to purchase and then ask for thoughts but I had to purchase all the parts when I did as I got a smoking deal on all of it. That being said non of the parts are set in stone. I still have the ability to return or sell any item that doesn't suit my build.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a good case? I'm trying to find something that is less than $100 that is good but I'm having some trouble.
