Newegg Canada vs. US

AFAIK, there's no way to have Newegg US ship directly to you. You'd either need to setup an account with one of those forwarding companies, or have a PO Box south of the border and drive down to pick it up.

It would negate any savings IMO. I don't think the "Canada Tax" on PC stuff is that high. Consumer electronics like TV's and such though would benefit from buying in the US and bringing it up here.

Online retailers in Canada have been alowed to gouge prices since the beginning. I really miss the corporate shills that used to post on this site defending NCIX's outrageous pricing schemes and their blatant pricing ripoffs. My all time favorite was watching them jack up HD prices during the flood the very moment it was announced there MIGHT be shortages. It seemed that parts they already bought and had in stock magically became worth twice as much money!

Anyhow, this is the Canada Tax, plain and simple. As for the Aussie's getting to buy from Newegg.com it looks like they still get ripped off even worse than we do at least....

Doesn't matter, even if you can buy from USA variant, your gonna still get hit with taxes, exchange, fees, and possibly hit with import penalty - not to mention they may decide to rip it open and make sure your computer parts aren't a bomb or illegal material.

Any 'savings' you see at point of purchase will be absolutely decimated by the above mentioned process.

I remember the crazy price rise of HDD, but luckily i built my pc just a few months before that and didnt have to worry about it. But my cousin paid nearly twice as much for a terabyte lol

Part of the so-called Canada tax is that we're a big bloody country with 10% of the US population. Our population centers are spread much farther apart, and freight costs are ridiculously high compared to those in the US. People also tend to forget there's customs and duty costs associated with importing items from out of country.

I'm not a NCIX employee, just pointing out some reminders. Canada is an amazing place to live, but we pay for that privilege.
