No Name mobile

There no way my 15yo daughter is going to accept 2.5gb/month. lol
Even an old fart like me suck up that much data while out of town for 3 days. Lucky that I went on Wind Mobile early so I got unlimited data in US and Canada for $48 / month pre-paid. Sure that's a lot more than the plans above but still I don't have to worry about surcharges when I'm out of town.

Since I started using an iphone in February I've noticed it uses more data just being turned on with a sim card than my Android phones, even with Low data mode turned on. In addition iOS does not give you the option to setup a monthly data limit like a Google Pixel does (and possibly other Androids). So a phone plan that previously worked on Android may not be ideal with an iphone (for low data plans like 1 or 2 GB).

For context, some people on public Mobile with low data plans like that who had big monthly discounts will now see a 50% increase or more in price.

This is from my iphone with low data mode turned on, icloud disabled, no itunes, background refresh off, automatic updates off, location off, Siri off. edit: just realized this is likely a lifetime summary, so 3 months worth of data use.

I see Loblaws is kicking out carriers from their in-store Mobile Shop so that it's only Bell & Rogers companies. I suppose that only really impacts Quebecor/Freedom... but still... less choice for customers is always a bad sign :(

Weird time for Loblaws to have branded cell service. Their popularity is the lowest its been and there's an active 'boycott Loblaws' going on. Would think they'd delay it for a couple months until some of the bad PR has blown over. If the plans are anything less than great, it's just going to be more accusations of price-gouging or corporate greed.

That being said, if it beats the prices by the big three, or their daughter corps (Fido, Koodo, Virgin) or the various other companies (Wind, Freedom, or whoever's left that wasn't acquired by the big three) then more competition is good.

Or their "granddaughter" corps(Chatr, Public, Lucky). ;)

Wind IS Freedom, owned by Quebecor..... IIRC, was part of the deal that allowed Rogers to take over Shaw..... Is there really ANY other carrier, other than Rogers, Telus, Bell, & Quebecor, that are NOT owned by one of those four?

I just switched my plan a few months back to a 55+tax plan for unlimited Canada voice and text + 60 GB of data, I just checked and now the same price plan will get me 150 GB of data plus unlimited US and Canada calling, so I think I will be changing my plan again to the $34 plan that gets me all of the same upgrades but drops my data to 50 GB for almost half the price, it seems they have all updated there plans over the last few months.

I think it's pretty scummy not sending an email/text that there is an upgrade plan/price for what I am paying/getting now since I just changed to this plan so I could make sure I have enough data if I have a hospital stay at any point, but half price for a plan that gives me back my unlimited US calling and pretty much the same data sound like a deal to me

Which plan is this, and who has it ?

Chatr which is owned by Rogers, they have 50GB unlimited everything for $34+tax or $50 for 100GB new activations, but once you are with them for a little bit they will offer you a 150GB plan for 55 which was offered to me, but I am good with the $34 plan I went with.
