The GTX 690 is hardly a secret anymore but the newest member of the GeForce lineup has nonetheless been shrouded in mystery. This dual GPU behemoth packs a pair of fully enabled Kepler-based GK104 cores and is supposed to win back the performance crown for NVIDIA. But at nearly $1000, is it really worthwhile?

Only 1-2% behind a 680 SLI solution? That's actually amazing.

Shame it has to be so expensive. But I guess when it's actually matching the performance of two $500 cards, it makes sense.

Nice review, interesting results on the 690. I'm going to skip out on this for right now the 680 I have can hold its own, and I can't justify a grand on graphic cards running single monitor again.

Great review. It's a duzey of a card for sure. I wonder how availibilty will be!!! But I am sure that there are lots of 590' s still in stock out there. :bleh:

Guys, pay SPECIAL attention to the PCI-E scaling section. It is eye-opening.

Ya, it's definately one hell of a card. But, I mean, what did you expect when putting two GK104 chips on one card? Surely double the performance of a GTX680 wasn't too much to expect.

I think the biggest thing that Nvidia has achieved was getting those two cores to work at almost full power without melting everything around them. It's a testament to Kepler, and more importantly, to that beautiful heatsink.

Makes me wish I have a spare few grand laying around to build up a 3960x machine c/w a GTX690.
