So i will be purchasing a 5800X3D and will replace my 3900X with it. For my 3900X i have the original Box and original Wraith Prism Cooler (and manual and all the rest) . I was thinking anywhere from $325 - $350. The CPU have never been overclocked and has always been under a Noctua NH-D14 with both fans running.
 
The 5900x would be the comparable I think. Its been on sale for just north of 500-510 quite often lately.

I think at 350 you'd probably move it quickly.
 
Probably sell well for people after cores. My only concern would be due to the 5700X currently $246 new…not sure how the comparisons would all work out off hand for more cores vs newer architecture…but I suspect for productivity the 3900X would still win by a bit.

Loses on single core perf, and wattage use.

Wins on multi core R23 by about 33%
