Looks like this thing is now available, or at least was. The release apparently knocked out some of the carrer's websites

I was around for the launch. It outright destroyed both websites that were offering it.

Not to mention, this "could" have been avoided had they just taken preorders, but for some reason they argued they were unable to.

I just put an "interest" order in, hoping to get one to play with this year sometime, looks VERY fun. Seeing how I have moved away from Windows completely now (even my netbook has Linux on it as of today) this machine would a great fit to my collection.

It very well could, though unless you do your I/O through USB or Ethernet the Arduino still has the onboard ports.
