That's a lot of money. Gas & oil money hard at work play...
I wonder how this will play out? How many gaming companies will be gobbled up? And how it will affect the gaming industry overall.

"Saudi Arabia's government-funded gaming conglomerate The Savvy Gaming Group will invest $37.8 billion in gaming as part of a controversial effort to expand the kingdom's role in the sector.

Why it matters: Savvy is primed to buy up a lot of gaming companies and start many of its own. Savvy has earmarked more than $13 billion "for the acquisition and development of a leading game publisher to become a strategic development partner,"

Savvy's efforts are expected to establish 250 game companies and create 39,000 jobs, the press agency noted.

... that honestly doesn't seem like enough money to me for what is being described in your short form.

Blizzard sold for what nearly 70 billion. and only 13 billion is for acquisitions so their target companies have to be on the smaller side.

divided across 250 companies with the remaining (37.8-13) / 250 = 99.2m per company combined with needed experiences developers and managers and designers etc just feels like that is not enough. Feel like a lot of these companies will end up being 5 man crews kind of things and maybe half dozen companies of real note.

I could be way off just the way that reads out to me I'll have to read it in more detail late.r

Agreed, comparatively it's not a lot of loot. It seems a strange thing for the Saudis to be pumping more money into the gaming market at this time. AND this is being pushed & headed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. (who doesn't have a stellar record with a lot of things)

Plus Savvy already have invested:
"That's in addition to several multi-billion dollar investments from the Saudi government into EA, Take-Two, Activision, Nintendo and more."

Honestly the least amount of influence that they can have the better. I like my games to have many of the things that are just not allowed there and I would prefer if they didn't get too involved.

That said I am available and willing to help them with a cool billion or so. I'm sure I could get a decent little start up going with decent talent for 750 mil and a cool 250 mil bonus for me.

Yeah, I'm not keen on playing 'Journalist Dismemberment Simulator' or 'Public Executions; The Game'.....
