So I just recently installed an Arctic Cooler 7 Pro in my C2D build (ATX case), this was my first step into aftermarket cooling. I loved how it was basically silent (probably due to the huge fan)

Now looking at my AMD Athlon II X2 build, I'm still using stock HSF, but am probably limited in choices. It's my HTPC and it doesn't have much headroom, even with the stock HSF. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of small HSF's that are silent, but effective.

Any comments would be appreciated :)

Here are pics of the current situation:

The 8700 is a newer model, thus including a heatpipe. The 7500 is older, but more than enough for a dual core A2X2.
Both of them are 67mm tall and should fit. Case looks like an Aria.

Cool, thanks guys, do you know if these are quieter fans than the scythe?

Also, my case is an Antec NSK1300

Since you like the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro you could check out there other low profile coolers here Arctic Cooling
No heatpipes but they uses the the same fan as the Freezer 7 Pro and from the looks of your photo you don't have a lot of room to spare because of the power supply.
