Star Citizen

From Reverse The Verse today : Star Citizen and Squadron 42 will no longer be SOLD together at the price of 45$ after Feb 14th. Existing packages are not affected. If you want to buy either of the two , they will cost $45 each , however if you decide to buy both, the other one will be $15, bringing the total to $60.

That seems a decent compromise. Takes the sting out of it a bit. That reduced cost though, is that only if you buy them at the same time or is it $15 to add the second to your account at any point after buying the first? The latter would be better IMO, like the cost of adding an expansion later on. Maybe that is what you mean, just clarifying.

UPDATE: They explain it completely here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15189-Package-Split-Information

Well... I caved. Upgraded my Mustang Beta to a 315P. I seem to be fragile still in the 315P but it's soooo cool looking! :bleh:

I watched a couple of the Bug Smasher videos last night. Pretty interesting. Being a coder myself neat to see the tools they are using for creating the game. Some of the fixes seem a little haphazard but what do I know! :haha: Likely the are testing the fix much more behind the scenes before it get plopped into the code.

Wondering what the opinion is of the 315P I just bought? Haven't had a chance to play it much yet. Like I said it seemed a bit more fragile than I expected in combat. However I went with the 315P for the jump drive. I was tempted by the 325A but I like exploring and I want to be able to travel when they add jump points. Do we know how that is going to work? Specifically I mean if they add jump points to a PU alpha build and you have a ship that doesn't have a jump drive, are you just not going to be able to use jump points? Maybe by the time jump points are added you will be able to buy and a fit a jump drive in game?

One other question about the ship loadout. Each time I launch the 315P the lasers are set as weapon group 2. I can go in and reconfigure them to be in group 1 but it would nice to save this so that I don't have to do it each time. I'm guessing since the PU isn't actually persistent yet that this isn't possible but just thought I would check in case I am missing something.

Another thing, does anything happen if you finish activating all the comm arrays? Just wondering if there is any reward or triggered events. etc.

Oh, and one other, other thing :haha: What does "update pass scheduled" (IIRC) mean for a ship when viewed on the RSI site? Does that mean the ship is an initial version or something and will be improved? I did notice that there are a lot more graphical eye candy happening on the Hornet than on my 315P; things like directional thrusters and even main engine thrust. The 315P right now just looks kind of dead in space.

As far as the jump points are concerned if you don't have a jump drive you won't be able to jump from system to system. Once they have it in place you will def be able to but a base model drive for cheap so that you can jump.

I'm not entirely familiar with the 315p. My very first package was a 300i which I promptly upgraded to a 325a. I didn't really like the feel of the 300 series so I moved to a Hornet , then a Super Hornet. ( yea that escalated quickly haha ) I think the 315p is more for exploration since it has the jump engine whereas the 325a is more for combat. If you're into exploration then the 315p is probably your best choice.

The loadouts are tricky right now. The holo table sucks ( even the devs admits so) They are working on something that will allow you to save your config and be more user friendly for the long run.

I think there's some interesting lore once you finish the missions but nothing crazy. It's pretty basic and it's kind of a placeholder for future missions and the expansion of the PU.

And the update pass means pretty much what you expect, they're going to tweak effects on the ship, polish it a bit more , add more details and so on. basically bringing the series up to their new standard. The Freelancer and Constellation recently had a pass and they significantly improved the details of the ships both inside and outside of it.

Awesome! Thanks as always implosion222. I'd still like to get all the arrays up just to say I did it, but it does take a decent block of play time to get them all done. I had a chance to fly around a bit more last night in the 315P. It'll benefit from the update pass for sure but I like it better than the Mustang. The inability to close the side door and raise the ladder without getting in the pilot seat, or the fact that the ladder extends when you EVA out the door is a bit funny. Hopefully that'll get fixed in the update pass.

I saw reference to the holo table in one of the dev videos. What is that? Is that what comes up in your HUD when you press IIRC F2, or was it Home?, and then allows you to change the groupings or is it something else?

I think what you're referring to is the MobiGlass . It's pretty basic but it helps you keep track of your missions and what not. The holo table is located in your hangar. It's basically an armory with all your weapons and ships. There is basic customization for your ship like removing weapons, hard points , swamp engines out and a couple other gizmos. The design is bad and not intuitive at all. They're reworking it as we speak.

I haven't really played since 2.1 dropped. I'll load up 2.2 and check it out for sure once it's live but I don't want to spend too much time in the game quite yet.

Ah OK. I haven't spent much time in my hanger. Poked my head in, looked around, but didn't think there was much to do there. I will check the holo table out even in its current state. And just one more point of clarification: this is the in-game hanger right? Not the one on my RSI account in the browser where I select which ship to appear in my in-game hanger? (btw, that browser based requirement to do that confused the heck out of me in the beginning! I was looking for everything in-game).

Yep it's definitely in game. The idea is to eventually have the hangar on either a planet or a space station and take off from it. ( it's coming sooner than one might think).

The website is kind of tricky for sure but I can see why it's like that to start with. Again all that stuff will be in game eventually.

Lots of speculation for 2.2 . Starfarer hangar ready ( which means a large hangar rework) . The Karthu-al hangar ready ( and possibly fly ready) . The Saber fly ready ( they've been hinting at that quite a bit) and maybe the Reliant Hangar ready. Which each ship that is either hangar or fight ready they generally go on sale . Once it's flight ready it gets permanently added to the store. Then new EVA physics will get introduced and some under the hood stuff.
