Trade reliance on Suez & Panama Canals in trouble

Between terrorism and climate change, ocean shipping is being challenged for both the Suez and Panama Canals. Which will drive up costs & slow things down like the pandemic did. Beginning to think that the 1900s was a lot easier than this century is going.

We've had the problem with drought affecting the Panama Canal. To fix would cost a lot and take a long time.

The Houthis in Yemem attacking ships in the Red Sea using the Suez canal. Some shipping companies are reverting to the old long route around the Cape of Hope in Africa.

Facing a near unprecedented ‘rainfall deficit’, the Panama Canal has been forced to restrict the number of vessels passing through it

The number of containers a single boat can handle makes it impossible to do a rail transfer to the other side of North America to bypass the Panama Canal. Given the rate of ice melting, both China and Russia are pushing for a northern route to Europe, which surprise, surprise, is under full control of Russia. Canada ourselves would get another route that is under our control.

Cape Horn is apparently pretty nasty for ships sailing around South America. But ships doesn't fit in the Panama Canal pretty much have to do it. Sounds like canals are having similar issues as hydro power plants these days thanks to global warming. And that moron Musk want more people on the planet.

Yes, drought impacting hydro power, farming, ranching is far more severe than people realize. It creates a cascading failure effect on everything. Drier means more forest fire potential. We still have over 150 forest fires in Canada. Less forests means less water since forests/plants provide a lot of moisture via evapotranspiration. Which just accelerates the drought. Then when you get too much rain, there's far less vegetation to cope with the water resulting in flooding, landslides, etc. So various natural & man-made systems can collapse or are threatened.

It's a shit sandwich and we will all have to take a bite!
Wash it down with some pennzoil.......
A good investment to consider is an Air Quality Monitor. While I get emails & notices about the Air Quality Index, it's usually for major cities. I bought one last year that's quite sensitive and reacts quickly. Several occasions that I had windows open and started to get poor readings and had to close the windows and started the furnace fan to recycle indoor air through the air filter.

AQI Air Quality Index

HCHO(Formaldehyde)

TVOC - Total Volatile Organic Compounds many of these are non-toxic, cooking, etc but some are dangerous at high levels.

Particulate Matter PM 2.5 this is the nasty stuff from forest fires or anything burning at high temps, even barbecues.
