I have an old Asus (lga1155 socket, 2nd gen i7) m'board that has an on-m'board connector for usb 3.0 Asus also provided an add-on front panel (that I do not have) to provide front panel usb connectors. I also have a "Hardcano" front panel insert that provides 2 usb 2.0 ports (also provides fan speed control, Firewire 400 port . These are of no interest.). I can connect the m'board usb 3.0 connector to these ports. Cabling aside, is there "something" about a usb port 's construction (the socket connector itself) that renders it unsuitable for usb 3.0? This is purely a convenience thing - having usb ports on the front panel . Don't want to go to all the effort if it is doomed from the start. Thanks
