Upgrade Dilema

Only because of the best friends discount, and the fact he has a 680 on order i can get the pair for $300.

OK...now I understand. If you can get the pair of 570 for $300 then its a no brainer. Its not going to be night and day from your 6870, but it will be faster by a decent amount. Sell off the 6870 and it will only cost you a few dollars out of pocket.

On a side note...Any good computer shops in your area (I am always looking for other places and I am around the Amherst area every now and then)?

I'm in Dartmouth and I find local prices are way higher than online prices. I guess thats to be expected considering the volume the online retailers sell. I don't even have a vid card yet. I just built my system, and I'm waiting for new gen stuff before I decide.
Everyone says my system will be viable for a few years too, but I'm horrible with the need to upgrade. My build is two months old and I already want to upgrade!!

No, there's nothing in my area. Just a couple con artists that try to take advantage of people that don't know computers and a PC Medic that over prices everything. I generally just order from NCIX or Newegg.

My rig is exactly the same excpet I'm rocking an i7 930, I put up my 6870's for sale, looking to buy a 680, cannot stand the driver issues and play with 1 card feels alot better then 2.

I hear you there. I am in Halifax. And the prices are atleast $50 more then online. It's ridiculous. I have bought my ram, mobo and CPU from Directcanada.com And the prices are better then the more popular sites people go to!!! :thumb:

But you can price match to NCIX or memoryexpress and they will beat the directcanada price.

Only $50? I saw an 8800GTS on a shelf at a local PC shop, guess the price of that old gem? $169.99, also seen a s775 thermaltake big typhoon cooler for only $89.99! what a steal! I have purchased about 10 things locally ever, SATA cables, couple fans, fan shrouds, couple games at walmart, all the rest is online.

I've found that Mysterybyte Computers in Halifax isn't that far off of the online e-tailers. The big problem is they never seem to have anything in stock. That said, most of my business goes to NCIX. They've always been great with service and delivery and the price match is icing on the cake lol. Wish they'd open up somewhere in Nova Scotia :thumb:
