Hey all im going to upgrading my computer soon and i was hoping for some input. I was wondering if I should just get a 1090t and a new gfx card and replace some of my current parts, or just build a whole new system and sell the old one. I use my computer for music movies and gaming (mostly sc2 but some other games as well) . I will also be getting an ssd and a new sound card so if u could help me out on those (was thinking corsair for ssd but no clue on the sound card). and input is appreciated :D

hey. it depends. id get one 6950 now, maybe. scII will run fine on a 6850 too.

as for the cpu, if you do change things around...wait for dozer or sb right now

i have a phenom iix4 955 and a 6850, runs like a champ on starcraft ;)

Well, unless you'd be using the other 2 cores for video encoding or anything that uses 6 cores, you're better off sticking to a 4 core for now. Just spring for an SSD and a video card.

timidestemu, it would help if we knew what your current build is.

I mean if you have a GTX460 or something and a Phenom II @ 3.2GHz or something you should be fine for now.

yea we need to know the rest of your system specs and the resolution you game at. also, any reason you want a sound card? personally i think the onboard usually does a great job, but thats just me

Monitor: samsung 19"/40" sony tv

from his drop down menu so i guess the 40" is either 720p/1080p

ahhh didnt see that drop down menu. yea i think SSD and gfx card should be your only upgrades. even then upgrading the gfx for that monitor might be pointless unless you use the TV alot and it is infact 1080p. at 720p i wouldnt bother upgrading the video card, should handle your tv and 19" fine. ssd's are a bit new to me still, so i cant really recommend one. ive heard good things about the crucial line, intel and certian ocz drives. i got my intel from the retail edge deal and its supposed to be an amazing drive, just over priced compared to whats out there

yea my tv is 1080p and u do use it often. also have a 22" 1080p tv i want to use for a monitor but i need to buy the right cable for it. also my motherboard doesnt have great onboard sound (i think it's 2.1 and i have a 5.1 system) I have a sound blaster audigy ls and it seems like when im listening to music it seems to switch between the left and right speakers its pretty annoying and I dont know what the problem is.

Yeah didn't notice the system specifications dropdown myself. IMO an unlocked 555 BE system should be enough to hold you for now, unless you're doing heavy video encoding or something. The bottleneck for games would be the GPU, if anything just grab a better graphics card, and at most a SSD as well and you're set. A 1090T won't really boost your performance noticeably, not like a GPU upgrade would, and for load times a SSD.

If you're dead set on a 1090T though (don't I don't see why) I have a pair of them I'll be looking to move soon, so PM me if you're interested.
