I have a pretty expensive led tv and was wondering if there is any possibility of damaging the led tv if i hook up my computer to it. My gf had a 42 inch lcd tv and i hooked up my computer to it and apparently after a while, there was a small red dot on the screen that was burned in the screen. It could have just been coincidental, but i always wondered if it was because i hooked up my computer to her tv.

Yep, up until I switched over to my 3 monitor setup 2 years ago I was using my 32" 1080p LCD TV as my monitor (for about 2 years) with no ill effects. Just sounds like your gf had some panel failure as previously stated.

my media box which is hooked up to my 42 LED has been working fine with it for 4 years. No red dots...or dots of any kid.
