my band are trying to gear up a website...its nothing to serious just for fun.we have already purchased the domain name, but none of us are good with html etc...is there any very easy to use programs for building your website then using it at your domain name? i know webs.com is free to make a website but are you able to use your own domain name from there for free?

check with your web host to see if they offer a browser based web design tool. just about all of them offer it these days.

it won't give you the best design ever but, it will be functional. it will also help you learn some of the basics of web design.

from there, you can then try out a stand alone wysiwyg designer. i prefer dreamweaver but, there are plenty of others out there.

Dreamweaver is good for beginners, you could always find a template online that doesn't have any copyright and edit it to your liking.

I used to do it on notepad, but that was a long time ago. Everything is much more advanced these days. Try Dreamweaver as suggested.

Drupal, wordpress, joomla, any number of CMS systems out there for free that will do what you want. I think wordpress sites tend to be around $5-$10 a month for the hosting. Its the easiest way to manage your site as well, you don't need any code to update anything or add a new page.
