Why is RAM so expensive a Deep dive

I finally got a stock notification for the ASUS TUF RTX 5090... a hair under $4900 after taxes... that was a big NOPE! And yet, it showed out of stock a few minutes after, so clearly a bunch of people did grab it.

It certainly doesn't appear that the AI demand is decreasing at all either...
