Windows Defender threat detected - Winring0.G info

All of this bloody mucking about with my fan setting hardware is having a major effect on my system. :(

This Hyte isn't the best for airflow so I need my top/bottom system fans moving a fair bit of air across my vid card for gaming (otherwise I get driver crashes). Ideally, I'd like to tie hotspot temps to the system fans which is what I had been using fan Control for and it seemed to work as advertised for quite some time, but defender's been making that problematic, and Hyte's display software now has a fan control function which isn't helping either.

I'd switched back over to (shudder) armoury crate for fan expert over the last few days, and had it working relatively well this evening, but I tried to create a "gaming" profile with relatively high fixed rpm, and now it doesn't seem to want to spin up the case fans at all.
I find trying to set more advanced fan options has more often than not frustrated me enough that I aborted the effort. In my setup though, my airflow in the Meshify is good, and running everything off CPU temp works good enough.

Thanks for that @moocow ! I forgot about @ZZLEE post.

Has any mfg figure out how to control fans and RGB without using it yet? GN posted a video about it a few months ago and mentioned in the community.

Okay, that video was excellent in explaining what is going on here.

One of the interesting parts was the explanation about how the application itself getting flagged may not be doing anything nefarious, but the fact that they use the WinRing0 library, usually an insecure version, makes your system vulnerable to targeted malware because of the presence of the library.

So as Steve says in the video, Defender's behaviour isn't really a false positive... but a positive, positive :)

Hyte's role in highlighting this issue is discussed in the video too @sswilson , if you haven't watched and are interested.

I was starting to get this yesterday using the free hardware monitor then today I looked at it in defender noticed where it was coming from because I opened up defender popup warnings started to happen multiple ones that wouldnt stop I used the ignore and that didn't even work I literally had to delete the folder go into cmd and delete that one file so that it would stop
