I have been doing a bit of research about components regarding upgrading to a core i7 as well. Consider the sata plugs because large vid.cards will block some of these. Depending on your budget, the EVGA mobos are
decent and have sata plugs which go in from the side, avoiding loss of sata plugs. The x58 is the way to go, as it allows you some leeway for upgrading and will work with dual or triple channel memory. Hope this helps with your decision,

mainly all the board have the connectors in fronts, they all copy the idea of Asus.
