Sorry if I'm posting on the wrong forum but I think this is as close as I'm going to get.

I've been looking for a rack to put up my servers. I was hoping since I live in Metro Vancouver area I might find some really good deals on post racks or cabinets that were overstocked or being liquidated.

I'm really hoping to find:

1. Smaller than 42U rack. I even considered cutting 42U 2 post rack and turning it into 20U rack but that's ton of work and I don't really have the know how or the appropriate tools to pull it off. Preferably somewhere between 12U to 20U

2. Full Length - I have a 24 bay storage server chassis so I need to have a full length, otherwise it's not going to cut it.

Anyone know where I can find something like this for free or relatively cheap in Metro Vancouver? I'm willing to pick it up if anyone wants to get rid of theirs. :punk:

I've checked Craigslist and it's the same guy listing the same thing and it's not even big enough to hold servers

That's a pretty damn good looking cabinet. I wonder how I didn't see that after so many times on Startech's web site.

I was actually thinking of this guy:
25U Open Frame Rack/Cabinet - 4 Post | Adjustable posts | StarTech.com Canada

I'm contemplating whether I should break the bank and just buy the cabinet or wait until good price shows up.

At this point, I'm probably more price driven than anything else.

If you want "cheap" I have heard of people taking those Ikea end tables and using them as racks. If you need a bit bigger I have also seen them put one upside down and the other right side up and stacked. would give you 36U roughly for $26. If its going into any living space at least in pictures it looks better then any budget 4 post I have seen. I have never done it, but have always been amazed by ikea`s furniture being used for different IT things.

i built mine...it works well, problems are minimal, norce 2u's for example have to have a resting place in the rear of the case so as not to break the front off, my norco 4020 same thing sags a bit.

here she is in all her glory, old pic though.

bed frames FTW!

I've recycled a couple nice 36u racks in the last few months.Nobody ever wants em when you are storing them in yer garage.. :blarg:

I could probably find you one here in Calgary , but....

I went to Ikea and sized up a couple different tables to do the Lack Rack. Unfortunately none of them were going to work for what I wanted. I needed a minimum of 7u of space and for whatever reason it just didn't work out.
