Absolutely Live (The Doors album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Getting harder and harder to find physical media for older albums. This one just arrived from indigo. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it. :) Also got a "Sixty Minutes With" Streetheart CD last week. I would have preferred the live album but again it doesn't appear to be in regular retail channels any more.

Its called records man. Lots of places still have them ;)

Yes, but it's a media that degrades even when you're treating it with kid gloves, and all of my purchased content is instantly converted to digital format which would be a PITA using records.

If digital media being sold was a higher quality rip (or even better, a lossless format) I wouldn't mind, but unless you're ordering from a specialty website you're lucky to get 128 let alone 256 (or again... lossless).

Actually if you check out bandcamp pretty much all of the albums sold there have an option for what quality you want to download it in including flac and wav if you want. They have a ton of great bands and getting better by the day.

Thanks for the link. Certainly looks like a site that worth spending some time on.

Worst part of my search for older albums on CD is that they're probably sitting in one of those bins at wallymart for $5, but you've got to dig through a hell of a lot of crap to find the occasional gem.

Another perk of Bandcamp is that you can create a profile and add bands to a wishlist to keep track of them. If you buy an album you can write a little review plus anything purchased can be streamed from your phone (with the bandcamp app) for free. The only caveat though is that if you download something for free (a lot of stuff is free too) it doesn't allow you to stream it. It must be bought.
