Did the devs ever explain why they made the cargo hold spin?
Lots of theories out there. The one I'm going with currently is that it uses the centrifugal force to pack the ore in as tightly as possible as its placed in each container. Works well actually in zero G.
sorry in advance.

People focus so much on the real money aspect of this game and sure its front and center right now but its so minor. 45$ gets in game right now, full access to all content down the road. That includes Sq42 (a full single player story line ala wing commander), a first person shooter, a space sim, a bridge sim, a persistent universe, mod tools, and the list goes on. They are implementing an AC rental credit system to allow you to earn other ships and gear in game, possibly as soon as next
Yes. They are charging HUGE amounts of money for unreleased virtural goods, but only because people have consistently proven they are willing to pay them. Also thank the people that are, they are the ones that are allowing us to get this huge epic game that many of us have never dared dream of before. They are making it possible. Just remember you are under no obligation to buy any more than even the 30$ starter pack, you will get the full games and be able to earn everything in game.
Personally I think this is a great precedent to set. Sell the full game early with full access for cheap 45$, then to fund development sell stuff that will be earnable in game with ingame funds when the game is live. CIG is just making huge piles of money off the concept of early unlocks, and when the game launches these aren't even going to be available anymore. Admittedly if CIG was being less open and communicative I don't think that this would remotely work.

I'd personally love it if we could move away from the entire real money aspect of this game and actually talk about the game itself. Can we do that?
Free cutlass weekend is coming up and I'm personally really excited about that. Want to feel how a bigger ship flies compared to what we have so far.
