My 2019 GMC truck has it in the console, it's handy as hell. And now that I've got the wireless Android Auto adapter I can use google maps on my dash which is way better than the 5 year old GPS maps.
Battery life has never been excellent. Maximum time was about 90 minutes when it was new, it's probably still good for 75-80 after 2 years. That's why there's battery packs around for them. The factory strap is ok if there's only one person using it. It's a pain to adjust if you are swapping...

If you're concerned about wear for high-traffic, maybe look into the epoxy coating they use on garage floors. I don't know what the surface is like to walk on, and I think it might be pretty pricey.
