Ill always just used air cooling in the past. Water would be nice aside from the fact it looks a bit much for my skill set lol to install and maintain, easy enough to get someone to do it tho. I have to admit im a conservative o/c, i only run my q6600 now at 3.2ghz which isnt bad i suppose but know alot that run it alot higher.

Well i think ive narrowed down a a few things finally.

CPU- i7 920

Mobo- Rampage II extreme
EVGA x58 classified
Gigabyte x58 ud7

Case - Antec 1200

Air Cooling - Not really sure. cooler master 212+ looks decent, noctua reviews are excellent just hard to find in toronto.

Memory - G Skill trident 6gb 6-7-6-18 ddr3-1600
Mushkin Redline Ascent 6-7-6-18 6gb ddr3-1600
Corsair Dominator GT 6gb 8-8-8-24 dd3-2000 <--- $100 more than the other 2 roughly

anyone of those 3 boards are good, some have more feature than other. they will all give you good OC if you need it, so it's just a matter of taste..take the one you like most . the Rampage have a better sound card.

the 1200 have very good ventilation for air cooling, probably the best, you can add a fan also in the middle of the case to blow air on the memory

Ya its hard to decide. The rampage is a bit older but all the bugs are worked out and the better sound card is nice. Dont know that much about the evga board, its the most expensive of the bunch tho. The new giga board looks quite nice with the usb3 and the sata, plus the 1 click o/c is kinda of appealing.

So far the rampage II seems to be the best choice, i can live without the new usb and sata for now anyway plus like you said its easy enough to add a card for it. Memory and cooling are the only things left to decide on i think.

cooling ...here a link that compare few cooler with a I7 - 920

and another one of the New Flex cooler of Zalman, just pay attention of the chart on this one, they have be made with only 1 fan, so it's not a good representation of what a cooler like the Noctua d14 can do ... and talking of the D14, I will not sugess you get this one, is very huge and hard to fit.
