would you buy an evga 480 and oc it urself or buy an evga superclock 480 for the extra 30 bucks?

Belgolas, just out of curiosity why do you use a GTX 260 as PhysX with your EVGA SLI GTX 480 SC's when the 400 series cards espcially in SLI have superior PhysX algorithms? From what I have seen first hand with a single GTX 480 and a dedicated PhysX card is that it barely helped, and the increase was so small that it's not worth the extra power consumption. With two GTX 480's in SLI the PhysX score dropped when a dedicated PhysX card was added since the 480's do PhysX better.

I forgot to mention the massive fps hit in Metro2033 using a dedicated PhysX card in with the GTX 480 in SLI.

This is a very valid question, I was wondering the same, as I was entertaining keeping one of my GTX 280's for PhysX to go along with my 2 x GTX 480's, but all benches and Threads I've read / seen actually show a drop in performance when ading a dedicated PhysX Card to a 480 Sli arrangement........

I know I won't be adding any PhysX Card to my 480 Sli arrangement.......

Well I just did a quick test and in Batman AA I ran it with just my 480 SLI and 480 SLI + 260.

With 480 SLI I get with the beginning fight in intensive treatment I get about 30FPS min and 40 FPS avg.

With 480 SLI + 260 for physx I get about 55 FPS min and 60 FPS AVG.

So with this limited test adding a physx card adds HUGE performance boosts. I will try again with a 280 for a physx card and see if I gain even more performance.

With a GTX 480 for physx I get about 57 min and 61 avg. Not really a gain.

Will try metro 2033 just for a second.

Metro 2033 just 480 SLI, 15fps min and like 25 fps avg.

With 480 SLI + 280 physx I get about 15min FPS and 30 avg. Although it is hard to test FPS in this game. The game felt smoother than with no 280.

Huh I am surprised how little physx is used in Metro 2033. It maybe get 8% usage on my 280 while in BAA I get easily 30% usage or more. So if people are using Metro 2033 as the game to test for physx then they are using the wrong game.

K I am an idiot and forgot the benchmark for BAA.

K 480 SLI no 280.
Min 21
Max 62
Min 41

480 SLI + 280
Min 40
Max 111
Min 75

Clearly adding the 280 is VERY beneficial.
