AMD 9800X3D CPU's burning it a lot on ASROCK Mobo's mainly but also on others, this can't be good.

I think it was an alpha cool AIO that was maintainable that I had suggested to someone else. Within 2 years it had corroded inside, green buildup on the pump impeller and ceased.

Never handled an AIO that I was actually happy with.

Tech Yes City got some info from ASRock regarding the burning CPU issue. According to him, ASRock's PBO setting is to blame but since there's no official statement from ASRock themselves, I don't know if it should be trusted as official.

GN got a hold of one of ASRock's VP and try to get some answers out of him. TL;DR, they still don't know why the CPU are burning up and GN Steve thinks the PBO defense is not correct.

hoping this with liquid metal keeps my 9950x3D safe from self immolation.

Same guy burnt his second 9800X3D, except the 2nd time around he didn't upgrade to the 3.40 BIOS and blame it on AMD.

It's bad news for the user and ASROCK/AMD, but I think the companies need to eat it again on this one. While most of "us" would update the bios, they can't expect that every DIY user will (unless it is very clearly marked as a mandatory step in the manual or something). Really unfortunate though given the latest bios supposedly does fix the issue.

As a side bar, I haven't seen anything showing this issue applies to 7000 series CPUs at all...but just in case it is an issue that came with bios support for 9000 series CPUs, I held my bios updating until the dust settles on the drama of CPUs failing. I will give it another few weeks an then jump up to the latest (bypass all the intermediate iterations).
