Antec 900?

Darn, and I thought I was getting a wicked case with this purchase ($99)! Though it seems with a little creativity and a dremel, this can turn out to be one nice piece of hardware.

Are dremel's expensive to buy?

I really do not know what to say but, when I had an Antec 900 once upon a time, I ended up with this:

A dremel here and there recently =

Dremels are cheap, you could pick a kit from your local home depot/hardware store for $40-$60, make sure you get the metal cutting blades, they dont come in the kit.

EDIT!: They newer batches of the 900 comes with a cable management system.

Good luck :thumb:

Newer batches of 900s come with a crappy cable management system that simply does not work. I wish Antec would simply pull this case until they released its replacement or people would become more aware of the CM 690 by Coolermaster.

Your gonna need a 2 1/4" hole saw if you want good routing in the 900.

To give you some idea, this is a buddies case we modded for the cable managment "properly" in a 900 and it was a pita.

Nice job there! Where could I find those plastic strips that protect sharp edges?

Antec is planning on released the "Twelve Hundred" which is a 12 bay full tower E-ATX version of the 900.

Computex : Antec Twelve Hundred

Unfortunately, the 1200 also comes with a horrible cable management system, you would need at least 22" of cable length to get the 8-pin in.

This is true... I just built a PC for a friend of mine last week and he has one of these newer Antec 900. Long story short, even with the latest Antec 900, you need to mod the case (drill holes) if you are looking to tidy up the cables. The fact that the PSU has to be mounted upside down (no space for the fan if mounted right side up unless of course you drill a hole for the fan to be able to suck air from below the case) results in a mess of cables on the lower to middle part of the case.

If one prefers an Antec case, I would recommend the P182 instead.

I currently have an Antec 900 and I love the case it was easy to work with and to has the best airflow out of any case I have seen, now I am not a stickler for having all the cables out of the way, and with my OCZ Gamestream pwr supply upside down I found that using zip ties and stuffing the extra cables under the bottom drive bay worked really nicely, as well I will eventually probably drill some holes in the bottom to zip tie them down rather then just together. I have had no problem with connectors other than the top audio connector has to go through the middle of the case, I use both onboard sound and my Azuntech sound card, just so I can play a game and have vent through my headset all while having game sound on.

now I actually have a question I am looking for a case that is bigger thanks this one but do not want to lose the airflow that the antec 900 has does anyone have any suggestions

Orignally I had that problem, then I purchased a USB type Headset, and I found I didnt need to have the audio cable connect. Now its tucked away not in use... so theres no wire running through the middle of the case... :)... just a though....

never even thought about a usb one, going to have to go and find one that I like so I can get that cable out of the way, I admit in my case the very bottom of it looks cluttered a little bit but I don't think I am losing any efficiency with the air flow I will get a picture of it soon and post it here to see what people think.
