Anyone ever used something like this? PCI-E x16 Flexible Extender Cable

Im sorry but i just dont see the point to it unless your building something similiar to the falcon northwest Tiki or alienware X51 etc. I get what your saying to a point but how would you sli the cards if your trying to do so? or how would you securely mount the card?

I've tried it, and it just didn't worked at all. I could boot into windows, but as soon as the graphic driver was loaded, the system would lock, even in safe mode. The same card in the same motherboard slot without the cable worked just right. My cables were pci-e 1.0, but it should not be the problem, as pci-e is backward compatible if i remember correctly.

Then i bought a motherboard which can fit four double slot cards. Way To Fold

Problem solved and a 950w power supply gone (a week after installing the new mobo and all gpus) in smoke:censored:

Maybe 3 gtx 460 and a gtx 275 co-op (5 gpus total) with a heavily oced i7 970 was too much for him...

I've seen it done for Folding and Bitcon Mining to allow you to increase the Maximum number of cards your board can support.

Other than that...

I guess its time for the OP to get a AX1200..

I have my sound card on a extension cable so that it doesn't cook between my CF, not exactly the same but it works fine, but my rig is in a TV stand

I've used a lot of extender cables for all kinds of fun GPU overclocking stuff. There can be some software/hardware issues, but I found it had a lot to do with the cable itself. When it works, it works seamlessly, but when it doesn't, it can be a bit of a battle. HTH
