ASUS Rog PG348Q (ultra wide) work well with a GTX 1060 6gig?

You could have bought a 1070 brand new for less on Newegg?? or was this still BNIB?

In any event, way better flexibility for ya on a 1070!!

noo i couldn't have- especially when you include the taxes and everything. It's really annoying how they add on those taxes at the VERY last stage, you'd think when it says 'your GRAND total is', you'd think that was the total price you're paying.. but nope, go one more step and it adds almost another hundy on top. Trust me, I did my shopping around, and I went to the final stages of checkout at both newegg and ncix and it turns out it's around 680ish range. If you can prove me wrong, then I'm an idiot who sucks at shopping. Anyway, he included the receipt, and it's still under warranty 30 months- he's had it for approx 6 months (i think he used it less than that though, because he bought a gtx1080 for his vive). What's BNIB?

anyway, if i got jipped, i got jipped. but at least i have a sweet ass card.
 
BNIB = brand new in box :) You'll be pleased with a 1070 on a 34" ultra. I am. I had a 980 Classified and went to a 1070 (used too a little while back) for my X34. It's a great pairing. You still won't hit 100 fps in every game with high-ultra settings but with G-Sync it doesn't matter. The experience is smooth and fantastic IMO. Enjoy!
 
I saw an Asus for $519.99 + 5% tax + FREE SHIPPING. = Cheaper than $550 BNIB... but anyhow.

Not here to argue-- enjoy your card, I'm sure it'll serve you well!
 
Always depends on where you are. 15% tax here in NS... killer :) So at $519.99 that would be $597.99 for me. I paid $550 for mine from HWC. It was a review unit. At the time they were selling in the $600 range so it was good for me then.

Once they hook it up and play whatever was paid will be a distant memory :biggrin:

Aw man I can't waaaiitt. Is there a reason you chose the acer x34 instead of the asus rog pg348Q? They basically have the same specs right? Main diff is the monitor stand on the x34 looks more sleek, less bulky. Someone said the on screen settings for the x34 were kinda annoying.. What's your take on that?
 
Several members here have X34s, including myself. Yes the X34 and the PG348Q use the same LG panel, it's basically the same monitor, main difference is the stand and the LED background/ambience lighting. I'd say go with either option depending on which one is on sale. Typically though the PG348Q has been a bit more expensive.

The newer refresh version of the X34 has something comparable to Asus on its PG348Q for navigating the OSD. The original version of the X34 has more of a traditional OSD navigation scheme/buttons but honestly it's not that bad plus once you set it to your liking you don't really need to go back in there.
 
Still love my X34, and Groove is correct about the osd. It's clunky, but once you have it set, you never really need to go into it very offten. Battlefield 1 on ultra settings at 100fps is amazeballs!
 
Groove and turtletax already answered but I'll respond too. Same as they said :) Don't worry about the OSD. Yes it's a bit of a pain, but you do get on to it and as they said you aren't in there very much. Actually I would argue you are hardly ever in there once it is set up so who cares? Yes it is something you can fault the X34 for but I think it is a nitpick rather than a true reason not to buy. Price and performance should be way better drivers for anyone's choice. So if ASUS does the OSD better and the price is comparable no reason to not go ASUS. But if you find an X34 for a good price don't pass on it because you think "Uh... I might not like the OSD." There, that dead horse is sufficiently beaten!

And I bought the X34 because I found one used! :) That brought the price into the realm of just "luxury product" as opposed to "crazy luxury product" lol But I will honestly say it is the best monitor upgrade I have ever done. Going from a 24" monitor to a 1440p 27" was pretty nice but going to this ultrawide format is really something to behold. Pricey (and even more so because it eventually drove a GPU upgrade too) but I don't regret it (or the GPU) one little bit!

Yeah I figured the monitor setting OSD wouldnt be a big deal or anything. I was considering getting an ultra wide used, but i'm worried about getting one that has crazy backlight bleed. It'd be nice if I knew I could return it and get a new one if I bought a used one that had bad backlight bleed. Did you ask the guy you bought it from if it had backlight bleed or anything? Or did you just roll the dice?
