This is true. I think the market is already saturated with Z87 and most users may just pass over Broadwell, hoping Skylake will bring something more.

Really? I am surprised. I thought it was a step up from the Z87. Though they certainly wouldn't have hurt my feelings if they further muted it.

But your right. Not enough to warrant much excitement. Sort of like Intel's release of the neutered i7-4790. Nobody's calling that a 4770 killer. And the price reflects that. Makes one wonder why they bothered clocking the 4770 100Mhz higher and calling it something else. /shrug
 
Can someone explain the difference between haswell refresh and devil's canyon?

Devil's canyon consists of two skus releasing in a couple of weeks separate from those already announced?

The "refresh" chips are just 100Mhz faster, and some models feature a lower price.

The Devil's Canyon chips have actual physical changes that should help lower temps, allow for higher stock clocks, and improve overclocking.
 
Believe me it looks a lot better in person. I actually like the heatsink look of this one compared to the deluxe and pro version. (I just wish it wasn't push pins)
 
I barely read CPU and mobo reviews anymore nowadays. I got an asrock z77 Oc formula and a 3770k and to me everything that came out after that seems like a sidegrade and it seems like performance are just stagnating . . .
Any idea when CPU and mobo tech will evolve and become interesting again?
