Hey all hows it going im really stuck on what unit to buy i had my mind set on the Nuvi 660 or 650 model but after sum reviews from people using it im not so sure.

What models are you guys/gals using and how do you like it? Thanx
 
Hi there, I own a Garmin Nuvi 350 and I am very happy with it. I have had it for about 1.5 years now and I don't travel without it. One thing I would check is the cost to update the maps. I am not sure how much other makers charge, but I paid about $80 all up to get the 2009 maps for my unit. As long as they keep the update process for my make and model I will never be out of date, though with the price drops and everything else one day it will be cheaper to replace the whole unit then to update the maps!
 
I have the tom tom 3rd edition and it works great for where i go , pretty acurate to the spot:) plus i like the map share tom tom has for updates and it will let you update your maps on your own meaning you can add like road closures and such till they reopen :)

em i already got the 2009 maps for the garmin units so maps aint an issue lol My friend took a tom tom unit to downtown montreal and i was always loosing signal so i dont want that happening so im taking my time before im buying a gps unit for myself.
 
ok after getting lost going to and from YVR for the first time last night I am seriously looking at GPS's now. I would need something fairly cheap because maybe I can actually convince my wife to let me get one with the wedding money. I am thinking 250 would be the most I want to pay and under would be even better. And I want to the most features for the money i can possibly get. Getting lost was embarassing and that never happening again is my goal...

haha if i had a dime every time i got lost lol ohhh man. Anyways i took the Garmin 255 on a spin last night it was nice and pretty thin so handy to hide or carry with yea and was very good didnt jump but it was missing a few streets i think i had a setting mixed up i might wait till boxing day to grab one but i know i need one.
 
I suggest a Windows based PDA with Destinator. We have a Mio A201 loaded with Destinator 6 and it's great. Program costs only $100 or something like that, then split it with some friends and the price of the program drops.

Geokilla i had a windows based Smartphone with gps but i have not activated it because it would be wayy too small on my screen and i dont think PDA have 4 inch screens i want it big but not too big that i cannot keep in my pocket the garmins have many of those that i want but trying to find the best one.
 
Oooh. Cus the Mio A201 has a 3.5" screen so it's big enough for us. Plus, we can watch movies when we go out when we're not using it as a GPS. At least, that's what we used to use it as....a TV or a GPS lol.

My dad has the Mio A700, and even though the screen is only 2.7" big, it's good enough for short trips and stuff.

One of our family friend's have the newer version of the A201 and it also has built in WiFi. This is the one he has. P550 - 導航 PDA - 宇達電通. It's very nice and better than our A201 in my opinion. However, you might have a hard time locating it in Toronto, so you might have to search around Pacific Mall, First Markham Place, or ask someone to bring it back from Hong Kong or Taiwan if you know anyone that's going there.
