Best Place to Live in Canada 2011

Guys, before you freak out about how they rank things, read their methodology, their weighting system and their reasoning behind that. Once you see that, you can easily explain why certain cities got certain rankings. Whether you agree with their assessments is another thing, but at least you can make educated comments.

PS: I know, this is the internet, but that doesn't preclude semi-intelligent discussion :bleh:

PPS: And I agree, it is a trite and shallow analysis. There are so many factors that influence the numbers they use that they don't take into account, that it really is nothing more than a fun exercise. Sort of like People's 50 most beautiful people...

Why is Vancouver 92 in weather, while Surrey is 109? Apparently once you cross the Fraser the weather gets crappier?

Also lol @ Richmond having 3rd most new cars on the road.

90 days of rain? Summer cold(flu)?

No, weather does not get crappier when you cross the Fraser, in fact there are a lot of other cities that have better weather.

All the Asian with there Cedes and Beamers ofc

People that boast about Vancouver's great weather need to get out more.

There are so many MORE factors that relate to quality of life, than what is on that list. Things that are completely personal and not measurable on a scale. In Vancouver I have top ski resorts, mountains and snow. I have the OCEAN where I can windsurf, skimboard, swim, kiteboard, waterski, sail, etc. Where is that on the "scale"? Sure I can live in some small mining village in Alberta and make tons of money, the cost of living is lower, etc, but I loose all the perks of living in a city like Vancouver. Going to big clubs, hockey games, going downtown and doing/getting whatever I want, and the list goes on. Seriously, there is no "best place" to live, it is completely subjective to your own lifestyle and needs. And this list is only taking into account a small piece of what actually makes a great city.
